WSCC Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and ARE NOT GUARANTEED based on minimum requirements in each category. Carefully read the requirements for the scholarship for which you are applying. Only completed scholarship applications with the required information will be considered. A WSCC application for admission, official transcripts, and a scholarship application must be on file at the College before a scholarship can be awarded. Students are required to apply for Federal Aid at studentaid.gov.  Wallace State’s school code is 007871.

The Wallace State Community College Scholarship Application deadline is March 1, at 11:59 pm Central Time.

Presidential Scholarships

  • Available to students majoring in an academic program of study at WSCC and will be awarded for up to 16 credit hours per semester
  • Based on a combination of the ACT composite score, the cumulative grade point average, completed scholarship application, and personal mission statement
  • ACT plus GPA must equal 30 (decimals will not be rounded up)
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA per semester while receiving this scholarship

Academic Excellence Scholarships

  • Available to students majoring in an academic program of study at WSCC and are valued at $1500 per semester
  • Based on a combination of the ACT composite score, the cumulative grade point average, completed scholarship application, and personal mission statement
  • ACT score plus GPA must equal 27 (decimals will not be rounded up)
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA per semester while receiving this scholarship

Leadership Scholarships

  • Available to students majoring in an academic program of study at WSCC and are valued at $1250 per semester
  • Based on a combination of the ACT composite score, cumulative grade point average, completed scholarship application, personal mission statement, and documentation of outstanding leadership and community service (up to 10 activities to be listed on the application – no attachments)
  • ACT score plus GPA must equal 24 (decimals will not be rounded up)
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA per semester while receiving this scholarship

Performing Arts Scholarships

  • Awarded through an audition process and the amount awarded varies
  • Auditions are held during the spring semester – Contact the Music Department at 256-352-8277 for specific dates and application procedures
  • Must maintain a 2.5 GPA per semester while receiving this scholarship

Allied Health and Nursing Scholarships

  • Available to students majoring in health care programs at WSCC and are valued at $1500 per semester
  • Based on the ACT composite score, cumulative grade point average (3.0 or better), involvement in clubs and organizations, and/or volunteer experience in a health-care environment
  • If your chosen program requires a minimum ACT score, your ACT score must be equal to or exceed the required minimum score
  • All Allied Health and Nursing Scholarship recipients must meet all admissions criteria for the chosen program of study
  • Scholarships will be voided if the student is not pursuing an Allied Health major
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA per semester while receiving this scholarship

Career Technical Scholarships

  • Available to students majoring in a technical program of study at WSCC and the amount awarded varies
  • Based on a combination of the ACT composite score, the cumulative grade point average, completed scholarship application, personal mission statement, and technical achievement
  • If awarded a scholarship, you must take 75% of your classes in your major program of study per semester.  Additional academic classes may be taken toward an A.A.S. degree in the technical program
  • Scholarships will be voided if the student is not pursuing a Career Technical major
  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA per semester while receiving this scholarship.

**Wallace State institutional scholarships are not stackable and all recipients must be U.S. citizens.**

WSCC Student Ambassador Scholarships

WSCC Student Ambassador scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and ARE NOT GUARANTEED based on minimum requirements in each category.
Must maintain a 3.0 GPA per semester while receiving this scholarship. Carefully read the requirements of a WSCC Student Ambassador on the application. Only completed scholarship applications with the required information will be considered. A WSCC application for admission, official transcripts, and a scholarship application must be on file at the College before a scholarship can be awarded. Summer Honors Scholarship for High School Students

Deadline: April 1
**Current graduating seniors are not eligible for this scholarship. Applicants must be RISING high school sophomores, juniors and seniors.**

Please Note:

  • Applicants must complete a WSCC application for admission before applying for this scholarship.
  • Scholarships are limited to academic courses for high school students who are rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
  • This scholarship covers tuition and fees for one 3 credit hour class.
  • If applicable, the scholarship recipient is responsible for paying the balance not covered by the scholarship before May 21.
  • Scholarship recipients will be selected based on current high school GPA and activities list provided by the applicant (on the application).
  • Student must complete a 2024-2025 FAFSA form for scholarship to be applied to your WSCC account.

Other Wallace State Scholarships

GED Scholarship (One Free Class)
Upon completion of the GED test in the state of Alabama, students who have passed the exam after July 2002 qualify for a three-semester-hour, one-time scholarship award.

Senior Adult Scholarship Program
Students meeting institutional admission requirements, who are 60 years of age or older, are eligible for the Senior Adult Scholarship Program, which covers tuition only, not fees. The scholarship can be used for transitional and credit courses. Scholarships are limited based on availability of space.

WSCC Employee and Dependent Tuition Waiver
The tuition waiver program pays for tuition only, not fees. It is designed for all full-time and Salary Schedule H-35 employees of the Alabama Community College System and their dependents as defined under Section II. An application form for the tuition assistance program is available at each institution and should be completed prior to registration for classes.
